The IMAGE has become synonymous with Biomedical Waste Management in Kerala. The biomedical waste generated from 20,000+ healthcare establishments in the state is managed by IMAGE (IMA Goes Eco-friendly) CBWTF of the IMA Kerala State Branch. Being the largest CBWTF in India, IMAGE also has the credit of managing the highest quantity of both regular and COVID biomedical waste in the nation.
Biomedical waste refers to waste generated during the diagnosis, treatment, or immunization of humans or animals, as well as research activities related to healthcare. CBWTF (Common Biomedical Waste Treatment and Disposal Facility) is a facility where biomedical waste is treated and disposed of. The segregated biomedical waste is collected, transported to the CBWTF, scientifically treated, and disposed of at the IMAGE Plant in Palakkad, following strict adherence to the Biomedical Waste Management Rules, 2016, as amended.
